TUANKU JAAFAR DIES

ALFATIHAH.

The Yang DiPertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, HRH Tuanku Jaafar Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman has died. HRH took his last breath at 11:45 am today at the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital aged 86.

HRH was a State Officer in Negeri Sembilan and Perak before becoming a career Diplomat who served in New York, Egypt, Nigeria and Ghana. HRH was to be posted to Japan as Ambassador of Malaysia when he was recalled by the State Government to become the 10th Ruler of Negeri Sembilan upon the demise of his elder brother Tuanku Munawir in 1967 bypassing the latter’s son, Tunku Muhriz. HRH was also on the throne as the 10th Yang DiPertuan Agong between 1994-1999.

HRH’s remains will be taken to the Istana Besar Seri Menanti for the lying-in-State ceremony and will be laid to rest on Monday upon the return of his children from abroad.

HRH served the country well both as a Civil Servant and a Ruler. The State will observe a 40 day mourning period. May Allah’s forgiveness be upon him and may his soul rest in peace amongst the righteous.

The Patriot would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Royal Family, the Government and the People of Negeri Sembilan.

Salam PemudaUmno@JB

Salam TPJ, saya setuju dgn pandangan anda.. Jelaslah benar apa yg org tua2 kata.. Harimau mati meninggalkan belang, manusia mati meninggalkan nama.. by the way, TPJ, its not "bergabung" but "berkabung"... typo error maybe..

Salam BoyHjJamil,

Yes it was a typo. Thanks for the correction.

Since Tunku Muhriz was bypassed in 1967 it would be appropriate to say 'Sirih Pulang ke Ganggang'. Daulat Tuanku.
It is interesting to note, though i may be wrong, that his mother Tunku Ampuan Durah, and Tuanku Najihah and Tunku Ampuan Besar Kurshiah are siblings. They are the daughters of Tunku Besar Burhanuddin.
Congratulations to the four Undangs together with the Tunku Besar Tampin for selecting the right candidate.

Indeed TeMagi, the Throne is rightfully his. I'm wondering at the age of 18 and only 3 years short of the legal age, why wasn't Tuanku Jaafar made the Pemangku instead.

Anyway, I guess justice prevailed on the 1st day of Muharram.

If I'm not mistaken, Tunku Kurshiah was the consort of Tuanku Abdul Rahman, the first King making her the mother of Tuanku Munawir. If Tunku Dura was Tunku Kurshiah's sister, that would mean Tuanku Munawir married his aunt which is unlikely.

They must have been daughters of different men holding the same position at different times.

Yes it's refreshing to see that the 4 "delegates" can make the right choice without the BPR or the "disciplinary committee" hovering over them isn't it?

I can't imagine how the ruling party in the royal household can fail to win the hearts of the Undangs while in power. They must have taken them for granted.

In Malay custom, a little repect goes a long way. Some people had to learn it the hard way I guess.

I hope the new Ruler is fit and attentive to the needs of the Rakyat and his responsiblities TeMagi. He was seen dosing off a couple of times during the Talqin recital. I hope it was because he was entertaining the Undangs or sitting on the prayer mat all night long the previous night and not because of a bad habit. Even Pak Lah was wide awake during the ceremony!!
