From Johor To Washington, The “Bluenami” Takes No Prisoners!

By Datuk Tengku Putra Haron Aminurrashid Jumat.

1. It started in Johor, rolled through Negeri Sembilan and, by Wednesday, the “Bluenami” had swept the shores in America.

2. President Donald J. Trump told Americans to pretend he was on the ballot. They obliged. His Republican candidates were left to count the cost.

3. There’s a lesson in that for the man in Putrajaya, too. An unpopular leader who insists on making an election about himself can turn his own coalition into a convenient way for voters to send him a message.

4. Trump thought putting himself at the centre of the campaign would save his party. It may well have been the kiss of death.

5. Democrats flipped seven Senate seats and took more than two dozen House districts from Republicans in the early reporting.

6. The precise House tally was still moving, but the verdict was already clear. Democrats had won control of both chambers, ending Trump’s Republican lock on Washington.

7. In the Senate, the Democratic caucus stood at 54 seats, including two independents. Republicans had 44, with 2 still uncalled at the time of this article being published.

8. In the House of Representatives, NBC News had called 231 seats for Democrats and 144 for Republicans, with 60 still uncalled at the time of this article. Democrats had already cleared the 218-seat majority mark.

9. Come January 2027, Trump will still have the Oval Office and his veto. But Democrats will set the agenda in both chambers.

10. The House can haul his officials before committees, and the Senate can put his judicial and Cabinet nominees on ice.

11. If he wants Congress to fund his priorities or pass his bills, he’ll have to bargain with the people he “whacked” during the campaign.

12. This is indeed the beginning of his lame duck Presidency.

13. In other words, the Democrats handed the Republicans a “good old fashioned country-ass whooping!”

14. Back In Semenanjung Tanah Melayu., We Hope The “Bluenami” That Started In Johor And Swept Through The United States Will Return To Sweep One More Shore On The 14th November, And That When It Hits The Banks Of Malacca, It’s Barisan Nasional Blue That The Voters Send Surging Into The State Assembly!
