IF WE CAN’T DEFEND ISLAM BETTER THAN SINGAPORE…

Yes it has come to this.

I never dreamt of even thinking Singapore would be up in arms whenever anyone of its citizens insults Islam or even the Malays with offensive remarks.

Being a predominantly Chinese City State, I naively thought that they didn’t have to care enough.  But ultimately they did, if not so much for Islam but for the social order and national security of their country. That is why they took swift and stern action on several Singaporeans of Chinese origin when they condemned the Malay race and Islam in their blogs and writings.

Read these three cases:

An example was made of them even after they had apologized and since then, it has stopped from spreading dangerously. Since the last I checked, Singaporeans are living safely and in peace with one other.

At home recently, a former DJ of Chinese decent insulted Muslims and Islam to the extreme by using vulgarity in the same sentence with the Quran. It was obvious too that he took much pride in doing so showing extreme courage by waving his insults in the faces of lackadaisical Muslim Malays and their leaders who think lightly of this.  I say this because there was not enough outrage from this Muslim Malay majority, even from their own leaders as there was for a an overzealous woman who berated a student pushing her luck a day before.

Little do they realize that perhaps from the many Muslims who were indifferent to the insults, there might be a small growing group that may decide to turn vigilantes taking the law into their own hands and turning extreme because the Ministers in charge and the authorities fail in their duties to prevent further insults to their being and their faith.

By not doing anything, we are manifesting and conceiving terrorism in this country. Ultimately it will come to that when the Muslims see that the government of this Nation where Islam is presumably the religion of the Federation as stated in Article 3 of our Constitution, is doing nothing to curb direct hits in public on it that we uphold as the highest order in our lives.

If This Man With Malicious Intent To Create Disharmony Among This Multi-racial/Religious Country Is Not Dealt With To The Maximum Effect, The Home Minister In Charge Of Internal Security, The Minister In Charge Of Multimedia And Communications, And The Dormant, Ineffective And Wastage Of A Minister In Charge Of Islamic Affairs Should Simultaneously Resign With Immediate Affect Without Waiting For The Election Statute To Expire.

We Should Then Be Ashamed That Singapore Can Do Better In Defending The Islamic Faith Than Our Own Muslim Leaders In This Country Where It Is The Official Religion.

Salam Tengku
We have laws governing this.
Article 298 of the Penal Code states
"Whoever, with deliberate intention of wounding the religious feelings of any person, utters any word or makes any sound in the hearing of that person, or makes any gesture in the sight of that person, or places any object in the sight of that person, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year or with fine or with both."
Article 298A(1) further states, "Whoever by words, either spoken or written, or by signs, or by visible representations, or by any act, activity or conduct, or by organizing, promoting or arranging, or assisting in organizing, promoting or arranging, any activity, or otherwise in any other manner—
(a) causes, or attempts to cause, or is likely to cause disharmony, disunity, or feelings of enmity, hatred or ill will; or (b) prejudices, or attempts to prejudice, or is likely to prejudice, the maintenance of harmony or unity, on grounds of religion, between persons or groups of persons professing the same or different religions, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term of not less than two years and not more than five years."
Why hasn't the relevant minister acted on it? Is he waiting for a police report to be filed before his boys in blue can act on it? Well, one has been filed by Seniman already.
And it's a pity that no leaders (if they can still call themselves one), from both sides of the political divide, has spoken against what the DJ has done. They fear losing the votes of non-Muslims in the next election than the wrath of Allah SWT?

Thank You Cik Fauziah for the tutorial on what avenues the Government can take to avoid the birth of terror and anarchy on Malaysian soil. If they fail to take stern action, maybe the Home Minister should be one of those charged and jailed for not performing his duties well to secure Peace and Goodwill in this Great Nation.
